Posted by: | Comments (0)

I mentioned in my previous post that I had a big surprise and now that she’s here I’m ready to let her make her debut.   It’s my 4th Dollfie Dream daughter Yoko from the anime “Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann“.

Aria outfit and wig are here.

I’m a little late updating this on the blog but I got the Aria uniform in the other day for Yukino and I’m really happy with it.  It’s a much better quality than I expected.  Not sure why I wasn’t expecting much considering it cost about $120 total.

The outfit is made by ‘Cherry Milk’, which I believe is related to ‘Azone’.  I was a little worried it wouldn’t fit well on a Dollfie Dream but it’s nearly perfect.

It’s a snug fit which is just how the Aria uniform should be but it’s not too tight.  I don’t think it would ever fit over the hips on a Dollfie Dream Dynamite doll.  Yukino is a M bust and she has some ‘breathing room’ so I’m tempted to have Sakura try it as she’s an L bust. Read More→

K-On! manga to continue.

Posted by: | Comments (2)

Late last year I mentioned how the Genshiken manga was continuing and how excited I am about that.  I recently saw more good news, the K-On! manga is going to start up again!!!

I saw the good news on Sankaku Complex which is a great site but be warned, it’s not very safe for work.  There doesn’t seem to be much information yet on what the restarted manga will cover though I think most people suspect, and hope for, a continuation of their current story following the girls past High School to college.  If that’s what they end up doing I wonder how they will handle Azunyan’s time stuck in High School as she’s a year behind the other girls?

I know there are a number of people who don’t like K-On! and call it pointless and simply a “moeblob” anime but I think they may be missing the point.  I’ll agree that the show is filled with moe characters and situations, just look at the animated gif of Yui doing her Un-Tan dance.  The show is also about friendship and having fun in school.   If the K-On! was simply a mindless display of cuteness without substance I don’t believe there would have been as many people saying how emotional they got, even to the point of crying, at the last few episodes.  No matter what you may think of the show you can’t honestly deny that K-On! is very loved by it’s many fans.

Fall 2010 – What I enjoyed watching.

Posted by: | Comments (0)

Well, we are well into the start of the Winter 2011 anime season and I’ve been busy over the last week finishing off a few of the shows from the Fall 2010 season that I was behind on.  I decided not to do a review of everything I saw but just on some of the ones I enjoyed the most.

Thankfully I’ve been able to break my addiction to World of Warcraft some and get some time away from the game and get back to enjoying some anime.  I’ve also tried to include a video clip, if I could find a good one, as a quick little sample of the show to give a feel for the style, art, and even sound it has.

Bakuman

Bakuman is still ongoing and it seems they plan to do a 25 episode run.  Currently the show is around episode 15.  I really love stories about people drawing manga, I guess it’s part of the artist in me.  This animation quality is very good, the story line is interesting, and the characters are well thought out.

At times I wish there was more story between Moritaka (the artist) and Miho (his “girlfriend”) but it does leave the bulk of the show dedicated to the creation of their manga.  This is easily one of my favorites this season and I can’t wait for new episodes to come out.

Sorry, no good vids available but this song from the anime is very good:

Lucky Star – Blu-Ray box $et

Posted by: | Comments (3)

It was recently announced that a very nice Blu-Ray box set for Lucky Star is going to be released in Japan on May 27th.  This box set is very attractive to Lucky Star fans in both Japan and English speaking parts of the world as it’s going to be dual audio and have English subtitles.   Thank God it has subtitles!   Sorry if anybody out there is a fan of English audio anime but I’m not.

The box set also includes 400 minutes of extras.  That’s almost 6.5 hours of material that’s coming with the original episodes.  The extra I find the most interesting is the 2009 live event “Lucky Star in Budokan: Anata no Tame Dakara” concert.  One that I am ashamed to say I never did get to see.  Here is an example thanks to YouTube:
