We have products!
Posted by: | CommentsI’m happy to announce that Otaku Depot now has products in it’s inventory, unfortunately I’m still not 100% ready to go live with the store yet. I have a few other things to complete and hope to get those done this weekend. (Yea for Holiday weekend and more time off work.)
I’ve really slowed down working on the site over the last few weeks and I can’t believe I haven’t yet posted here the reason why. I got my first daughter a few weeks ago:

My first daughter - Sakura Matou
If you read the Otaku blog DannyChoo.com I’m sure you are aware of Dollfie Dream dolls. He’s been showing pictures of his daughters for a long time now and people are used to seeing his desk surrounded by his beautiful daughters:
First order coming in soon!

It was a busy week but an exciting one. I’ve placed my first order for products and I’m getting things ready to have the store go live!!!
I ran into some issues about how to handle the shipping to my warehouse, getting the orders to process the deliveries once they come in… Thankfully I think I have that sorted out and in a few days I should be able to do a complete test order, including product delivery, to make sure every step of the process from website to opening the package is working 100%.
I kept my first order small so it would be easier to work out any problems in the process if they show up. Another reason is that since I’m not the owner of a huge anime empire with endless resources available I really couldn’t afford to buy thousands of products. I’ll be adding more in a few weeks if everything goes fine and then, little by little, increasing the inventory every few weeks.
First Post!!!
Posted by: | CommentsI guess I should start out by introducing myself. My name is James and I’m an Otaku. No, this isn’t A. A. and I’m not trying to be cured. I came to being an Otaku rather late. I didn’t get really into anime till I was in my early 30′s I guess. Some co-worker had introduced me to some anime such as Ninja Scroll or Akira and while I thought it was interesting it didn’t do much for me. It reminded me very much of the 1981 movie Heavy Metal. Interesting but not very fun. It just didn’t suite my personal taste.
That all changed when I mentioned that to the co-worker and he said “Well, how about a comedy?“ I didn’t know there was anime comedy. I guess I would have assumed there was but I hadn’t heard of any at that time. He loaned me Hand Maid May and I was instantly addicted. I watched that like 3 times all the way in about a week. I then started buying DVD’s: Love Hina, Please Teacher!, Ai Yori Aoshi, Martian Successor Nadesico… I couldn’t stop. My DVD collection started to grow and I soon found I wasn’t watching any regular TV. Eventually I gave up regular TV and only was watching anime or some select British comedies. (I just can’t give up my I.T. Crowd or Father Ted.)
I soon got into manga, doujinshi, dating sims, and of course figure collecting. I was immediately drawn to the figures for their ability to always have a real life representation of a character you have grown so fond of from an anime. Seeing that character on display would always put me in a better mood. Now with the higher quality adjustable figures such as Figma and Revoltech you can even create scenes from the show and then change it around another day.
I guess it was only natural that I’ve decided to start a business related to anime. My hobbies and passions all are somewhat connected to anime and manga so it only makes sense. This blog is tied to the Otaku Depot store and will serve as a place for me to share my love for anime, manage and all things a devoted Otaku would crave.
At this time I’m still in the final stages of getting the store up and running. I’m now working on finding the best warehouse service to process and send out the orders from the online store. It’s taking a while to find a service that meets all the needs of the site.
