Genshiken manga continues.

I heard some of the best news I’ve had in a very long time. Shimoku Kio, the mangaka for my favorite manga/anime – Genshiken, is going to pick the series back up again. At least for a short time. It doesn’t appear there is any word yet it’s going on a full time run again, just that there is going to be more offical manga from this wonderful world.
I’ve mentioned Genshiken a few times on the blog and one of these days I’ll try to do a full review on the series but let’s just say I’m extremely happy to hear this. It seems the story will cover in more detail the time frame of Ogiue’s presidency over the Genshiken club. I’m hoping this means we will get to see more of her relationship with Sasahara as well.
After Genshiken finished Shimoku Kio, the mangaka, went on to create a new series called Digopuri which did not do so well. He may be returning to Genshiken, familiar ground for him, to regroup and get ready for something new but I’m hoping it’s that he has more of the story to tell. I hope that the Genshiken 2 manga doesn’t feel like something that was just tagged on with no real purpose.
Photoshoot – Saki Kasukaba from Genshiken

I’ve finally gotten around to editing a few more photos and decided to post some shots of Saki Kasukabe, the violent non-otaku from my favorite anime – Genshiken. If you haven’t seen the show yet go watch it now. (hehe)
It’s a fantastic show that I’ve talked about before. Saki is the only member of the Genshiken club who is not an Otaku, she’s only a member because her boyfriend joined the club and was eventually blackmailed into joining.
This figure depicts Saki Cosplaying as “Ritsuko Kübel Kettenkrad”, the president of the student council from the fictitious anime called Kujibiki Unbalance with the Genshiken universe. What makes this figure especially fun is that Saki is not an Otaku and has no interest in Cosplaying at all. She was forced to do this and ends up winning the contest because her natural aggressive characteristics are perfectly matched to the character she’s dressed as.
Here is the scene from the show, season 1 – episode 11:
What I’m watching…

I figured there is no better way to know an Otaku than by what type of anime they enjoy so I figured I’d post what shows I’m currently watching as well as what I’ve seen before. I can summarize my preferences by saying that I mostly enjoy Comedy or Romantic Comedy anime. I’m don’t have anything against other types of shows, it’s just that for me – funny is better.
I split my anime watching into two sections. The first is for shows that are currently airing and I’m watching each episode as they get released. The second section is for shows that I have all the episodes already, such as buying a complete series on DVD, and I’ll watch them as fast as I wish. I find that it’s good to have an entire series of shows ready to go so when I’m all caught up on the new releases I will always have something to watch if I’m in the mood.
As you may guess after seeing my list that I watch a lot of anime – keep in mind that I don’t watch any “regular” TV so there is no wasted time during the week on that. Don’t bother asking me about “Lost” or “24″ because I’ve never seen them. haha
